Insurance - multi car policies (work & play)
I currently drive a Golf company car and have the S for weekends (and the odd trip to work just so she's kept moving) so only have to insure the S for social/commuting and can use my NCB on it.
When the lease comes up for renewal on the Golf at the end of this year I'm gonna opt out and take the cash allowance instead - can't stand the Golf and that's now the only option on our company car list!!
So, I've decided I want an Alfa 147 to use for work (can't use S as not four seats, not that I'd want to use it for work anyways) and I need to insure it for business use - out and about at different sites. I ran it by Chris Knott who currently insure my S, and confused.com for an idea of price - as I have the NCB on the S it'll cost me over £800 to insure the Alfa with 0 NCB, which I think is crazy!! So I'm now wondering if the multicar type policies are the way forward.
Does anyone have one of these for this reason, or have an insurer who'll apply the NCB to both cars on standard policies? Any advice, knowledge would be much appreciated.

If you ask around you'll find many insurers will give you a discount equivalent to your no claims bonus. This second policy then starts to accrue its own no claims bonus until it hits the maximum.
That's what I do with my cars.
From a risk point of view having 15 years no claims makes you a safe bet regardless of how many cars you own.
