My understanding of Ron's post was that he was driving a car not insured by him and was therefore only covered 3rd party on his own insurance driving someone else's car.

Therefore Adrian Flux have put a hold on his no claims in case the third party makes a claim against him.

I think he meant that it was his car but he'd only insured it 3rd party Fire and Theft, ie: not comprehensive.

Yes that was my take on it too.

In his post he talks about "driving my beater" which in theory rules out him driving another car under the DOC extension of his policy as that excludes cars owned by or registered to you.

Ho hum, breath still bated.

Sounds a bit fishy to me.

It's "bated breath" BTW LG. Bated being a contraction of abated, ie: lowered in force.
I can never figure out why someone would try to catch things by baiting their mouth.
You learn something new every day, thank you

........ I believe this can last up to 2 years after which point nobody can claim, you will be refunded.
I don't think it's a fixed period. Some insurers will close the file after 6 months if no claim is received. Others follow the statute of limitations for negligence, so will hold their files open for the full 3 years. Most are somewhere in between.
