Finally a bit of good news as October has been a fairly crappy month so far.

I got shunted the other week by white van man in Mr CJ's old P reg Golf GTi. We suspected they wanted to write it off as obviously it isn't worth a great deal and would have needed a whole new rear quarter panel and bumper.

Just been advised that they offering us £1350 write off for it plus RFL. We purchased it in Jan 10 for £1250 with a years MOT and RFL. It needed 4 new tyres in the next month or so plus MOT which we expect would have flagged something up as it's an old car.

We also get the loan car for a further 7 days after receiving the cheque to enable us to go and find a car.

Whole process has been easy with the TP taking over completely and sorting it all.

Now just got the hassle of trying to find a beater!

Result!

It's to do with the Gov't's "Cash for Plumpers" scheme forcing up the value of the remaining older cars, most likely.

Unfortunately that is going to be the problem when we try to find a car for under £2k. It's the problem we had in January when we were searching for this car.

To be honest I was expecting about £750 at a push for the Golf so pleased that we've got a bit more money to play with.
