Default Interesting test drive

I'm just about to hit two year's of ownership with my second S and have looking at other toys. A 355 GTS is top of the list, but for once (and I do mean once...) I decided to be a little more open minded and try some alternatives.

Yesterday I went for test-drive in an unusual candidate- a Corvette C6. I have to say I was impressed.

The car was put together quite nicely (although the leather on the seats must be from 'GM' cows - genetically modified - as it's so 'artificial'...), the steering was no worse than the S, brakes were great and it could be put through corners pretty quickly. The ride was excellent - which would be a bonus for my planned Amalfi coast tour with Mrs. Refinement was very good too. It was also filled to the gunnels with kit and surprisingly for a big, gizmo'd-up contemporary car, isn't too heavy. A check over the specifications show its kerb weight is pretty much the same as a 430...

It might be a clich

Bloke round here has one, in black

He must like it because he's had it for years and he changes his cars regular

Not in the same league as a F355 though

Certainly in the pedigree and desirability stakes

More chav chariot and plastic fantastic than proper supercar

That said, I would imagine it is probably a quick, well appointed drivers car

Probably best to compare it with a Vauxhall Monaro or a Jag XKR though

The prancing horse shows a true blood line and heritage

I love these cars, absolutley right about the power and they can actually be fairly frugal for a v8! I love the looks too, questionable use of plastics in the cabin, but the built quality seems good.
The Z06 of course takes it to another level.
The upgrades are fairly cheap aswell, or at least they used to be

I like these posts

Good to see some unusual choices. I'd never take one over a 355 though.

The Z06 is simply amazing, a league ahead of the C6.

I had a little run in a ZR1 when I was in Atlanta a few weeks ago, that was just mind blowing.

they are an interesting choice

so much nicer than something crude and chavvy like a Monaro

a little unfair to compare with a Ferrari though

chalk and cheese at any number of levels

Kind of proves GM CAN engineer a very decent car.
