I totally agree with you on the new MX-5 Rahul, but as I said, the mark 1 (with the pop up lights) is a classic and the best of the bunch. I wouldn't touch a new one even if they produce it with the automatic roof.

I note the spelling of my name, and when I next see you I will give you such a slap!

Just a loaner of course

The S is in for some headlamp / MOT stuff. Parked her up next to a line of Jazz's and knew what I would be given as a loaner but instead he passed me the keys to a new 06 MX5 with only 1000 miles on the clock. No mention of warm in or anything like that

First impressions are it is an ugly little car. huge wheel arch gaps and dodgy lights. Interior is plastic. Not very plasticy but just plastic - the entire interior almost. Seats are grippy enough. Dials and overall dash layout remoinds me (without having sat in one) of a smart Roadster. It's nice, simple, clear dials etc.

DSC button is well hidden but I found it after the orange light started flashing..

Very light clutch, underpowered - yeah it has a bit of zoomzoom but being so used to the S in the MX5 you hit redline as the Vtec would normally kick in - Def miss that boost of power.

Anyway - keeping her until tomorrow so will give her a proper test on the twisties in the morning.
been pming you, do you still want my muz mats or not?

back to topic now

This is why I hope Honda avoid the temptation to do the same to the S2000.

No direct replacement, thanks.

My problem with the styling of the new MX-5 is it reminds me of that Aquada vehicle I saw at the motorshow a couple of years ago.

That's nanny state & moronic pedestrians that can't remember to look before crossing the road, not Mazda per se.

I drove a great MX5 a while ago - has been "fettled" with to help the handling, but not the engine - was underpowered but was the best handling car I've ever had the privilege of being in. It felt like it owuld drive itself - all you had to do was set it for the corner with one finger and off it went!

Managed to drive a few Mk1's & 2's over the years. Loved the steering the handling wasn't bad either but didn't like the driving position and also noticed some scuttle shake. Could do with a V-tec motor as well!!

Pointless model changes, in order to excite the numpty buyers.

You'll see so much more of it in future, now that designs are very mature & there's barely any innovation;

"What can we do?"

"Let's make the old one bigger"

"Great idea!"
Are you talking about the S there?
