I like hard tops

Fair point though.

I'm sure there are more differences between the two?

Differences are hardtop, most of the suspension, seats, wheels, tyres and possibly brakes. The design of the hardtop/spoiler adds downforce at speed, reducing top speed, but aids high speed (70mph+) cornering.

however i believe that there is an elise pack that can be added to do most of the suspension work, and lotus are the sort of people that will do anything for a price if you're so inclined.

Personally I'd go exige because it's a ready made package, although it needs sport and super sport packs.

Yep I was just looking at it and thinking nothing needs to be done on it - its all fit for track use.

The one I sat in had avery extra - AP brakes, TC (Odd on a Lotus??) and some other bits like A/C...

The TC is a 10 step switchable system, anywhere from no intervention, through a bit of intervention, to quite a bit. Same as on the 7-11 or whatever it's called IIRC.

For me essentials are:

bar+harnesses
twin oil coolers
2 way adjustable ohlins
Stiffer ARB's,

all of which are covered in the packs.

not sure if the brakes are essential. Knowing me, they probably would be.

I'd be the standard ones are still overkill, given the weight of the car.

The AP's must be "amence"

I wonder if Nick spotted that one?
