Just how fast is an F1 car?

The most heroic thing about F1 drivers is their reaction times. The rate at which things happen in the cockpit must be incredible. Even playing games you can get a feel for it, but then add in pulling multiple g's and changing settings, putting your hand on the f-duct, kers, etc.
Turning in, if you're .1 second late at 150mph, you're 6.67m further along. That is a HUGE distance in difference to a turning point.
I will drive an F1 car for real one day, but I have no illusions that it'll be anything other than an old one that I've paid to have an experience in. And unless I get a lot of laps, I'll be pretty bad.

Pretty interesting the alternative line that the F1's have to take through Eau Rouge. That corner scares me though - don't think I'd ever have the guts to do it justice (certainly not in the Beemer!!!).
