Default Just nasty

This ghastly courtesy car I had when having a new exhaust fitted to my Omega

Corsa 1.2

Horrible thrashy little engine. Nippy? Only in the mind of a journo.

Nasty hard plastic interior and rock hard seats. Cheap switchgear.

Really nasty steering which felt oddly sticky and made pointing the car very tricky.

WTF are those quasi-quarterlights about?

It gripped OK and didn't roll much, but apart from that I thought it was horrible.

Mum has a Yaris, which is in another (higher) league

I had one as a courtesy car when my XJ8 was getting repaired. The clutch was like putting your foot in a bucker, and it steered like the axle was broken

What did you expect when taking in a Vauxhall?

We had a Fester something or other when the Focus was being repaired. Utter shite. I knew had become a snob when I reasoned that your life is shit if you actually owned one of these.

Funnily enough my dad owns one

I do want to try one of those Suzuki Swift things, although it might be slightly too small

Partner's car should probably be replaced next year

Also intend to try the latest Focus and Astra (she likes her existing Astra and likes 'the look' of the Focus. Clearly, the most important buying criterion)

If I buy her a new car, she might not pay so much attention to any mega-purchase I make

You've got to hope anyway

The Focus is (IMHO) a car which appears to have been well put together using (superficially at least) good quality materials. It is also, within the bounds of what one can reasonably expect in this class, a nice car to drive.

I agree that the Swift looks attractive and has received rave reviews so worth a look - not driven, or even sat in one myself though.

I was very surprised with the whole packaged when I first drove one.
