I'd say sell it, but that might not be straightforward without taking a hit

might as well shift it if you can get what you want for it, it sounds like you will not be happy with it again even if it is as good as it was before you bump.

I wanted it written off if that explains my feelings!

It is good to go, will be newly taxed, has 12,000miles left on the service count down, fresh rubber, new disks and pads and a couple of new front wheels - it will be niggle free.

So you could say why not keep as all of the above are + points, however though Ill take a hit(I bought it in August 07) I dont think it will be massive and to top it off - I do even fewer miles now than ever and Ive been thinking about getting something much cheaper regardless of this - a write off would have been so perfect!

I want to understand something...

Say you have a smack and the insurers want to repair it.

At what point do they make it a Cat D?

And then... your car that was worth say 20k is now worth about 15k (not yours ADP just an example!)

Are you shafted out of 5k?

I have never really understood the whole insurance / write off business.

it's only categorised if the car is written off - taken off you in other words

if it's repaired, afaik, there is no record

the theory being that a properly repaired vehicle is worth no less than an undamaged car

Difficult one. Why not punt it on PH with a wait & see attitude.

You might be lucky and someone will buy it without asking why it's not got a single stone chip, or if it's been involved in an accident..

You may be better keeping it for 6 months ot so.

Do you need the money? I don't think you do.

I'd really see how it drives first.

Long term, corrosion may be an issue if they cut out the rear quarters, so may be out it before tooooooo long.

But if it was heavy cosmetic, the repair may be OK.
