self-detonation!

Are you in Reading?

What are you reading?

etc...

But an Orgy praised for its handling is definitely new to me!

Owned the S for nearly 5 years now... its never had a problem - even with supercharging it to 380whp - but I'm getting the bug for a new car. I have a beater (JDM lude) for the work run and the wife has a CTR so I not worried about it being practical. But the Audi has caught my eye

Took out a '57 RS4 today - to be honest I was pretty impressed especailly the V8 and the handling But to be honest im worried it will "dull" on me after a while.

Also Looking at a Exige S, M6, Tuscan and a NSX but the later becuase I can get super cheap servicing!

Last year I thought about selling the S...... but would someone want it charged? or do I do the sickening thing and put it back to standard!
Have you driven an M3?

It's a Beatles/Stones thing ime

Notwithstanding any of the Audi's abilities, some people just don't get along with them (me)

Same with the BMW

You need to drive the comparable M/RS/AMG (and just for soulcrew, Vauxhall vectra vxr ) and see which (if any suits) they all have different characters and aims.

The M3 suits me, but I could also see myself in an AMG but I'd have it for a different reason.

Horses for courses.

Merc C63 amg, M3 or RS4, I dont think you could go far wrong with any. RS4 is now getting on for 3.5 yrs old. Check the DRC as they suffer in the same way as the RS6 did, there is an extended warranty available to people who suffered failure. Have a look on www.RS246.com, plenty of info there. I owned one from new back in 2007 so any specific queries feel free to fire away.

How about the new shape M3? More fun than an RS4 i'd guess?
Very quick, granted........

Cracking engine (very rev hungry) but the ride is stiffer than a corpse on viagra

Doesn't look special enough IMO, and not that different in appearance from any other BMW coupe (unlike the previous model).

Make sure you have a very long test drive if you are considering one

Sorry that's simply not true in my experience. The ride without EDC, or with EDC switched off is actually WAY too soft for a sports car. Even with EDC on it's firmest setting it's still more supple than an S.

Sorry but there is no way you could say it's that firm - have you ever driven a GTR? That's about 3x as hard as an M3.

Possibly agree on the styling - had loads of positive attention in mine though - most people seemingly know 'what' it is. Also very colour dependent.

If you want anymore info on the M3 give us a shout Integra - I tried all the above you mention. I'm so so glad I went for the M3 - it's special in a way I never thought posssible about a BMW, and has an incredible depth of ability.

Car's I considered and test drove - M3, 997 C4, 997 C2, GTR, Exige, Ford Mustang GT500, TTRS, C63

My criteria which swung me to the M3 were as follows:

- No auto box/paddle (Precludes GTR, C63)
- Oversteerability (Precludes 997 C4, C63)
- RWD (Precludes GTR, TTRS, 997 C4)
- Rev hungry engine (Precludes GT500)
- Great sounding engine (Exige?)
- Good engine/gearbox link up
- Heel and toe'ability'
- Not too in your face - subtle (new job) - (precludes Exige, 997's)
- Must have 4 seats (Precludes Exige)

M3 fitted the bill for me on all fronts - even though I wasn't quite sure I wanted one - was more of decision based on my head than heart. Then I had a test drive and I thought it was better than I thought. Now it's..

....an automotive love affair

Agreed. We need more in the V8 club

I was in training today, and at the end of the day I had drawn various illustrative V8 graphics all day.

V8s rule
(although I have V10 envy now)
