Ah... now I'm understanding what the question is.

I think you pretty well covered it.

You looking for luxury now Gad?

Personally the replacement for the S (not until next year probably) will prob be a luxobarge.

Currently the heart says Audi A8 (4.2 petrol) and head says Lexus LS430.

To add to your list Gad: Cadillac ?!?!

if only things were that simple......

I had forgotten about Cadillac........unsurprisingly

thanks, but it can stay off the list

I did just think of the Honda Legend, although I think it is in the Lexus category

Range Rover/Cayenne perhaps?

Not entirely barges as such, but often put into the same bracket as the above, and available for very good money of course.

The Legendo is closest to the M5, but does the average speed with the SH-AWD thing rather than massive power.

Tasteful to the point of blandness, it's not really a luxobarge. Worth a try just for the weirdness factor.

The Lexus 600h does have c unt charge advantages, but is probably newer than your target range.

Erich Bitter promised luxobarges/coupes based on Opels, but I don't think he actually got any recent models into production. Would most likely be LHD-only.

Heinrich Fisker preduced a really elegant rebody of the 6er, but US-only IIRC.

So short of a Coleman-Milne strech of a Falcon, you've about got it.

Actually, a really mental new car would be a Rover V8! Apparently, there are still a few unregistered around. Talk about a sleeper...

Following the tradition of recomending your own car ...

I'll recomend my own car ! ... Lexus LS 400

I've had mine for nearly a year, it's run faultlessly,

cost in repairs/maintenance ... zero.

newer LS 430 if your feeling flush, although IMO no need.
