M135i on order
Morning Chaps,
After 2.5years of 9k rpm giggles the S2000 is being replaced. Next week I have a brand new M135i being delivered.
There is nothing wrong with the S2000 and if money allowed I would keep it for Sunday afternoon blats, but as circumstances have changed (and my partner has traded for a new Mini) the S2000 just doesn't fit our lives anymore. Having a mini as the "practical" car doesn't work.
Whilst completely different propositions the M135i is fantastic car. Performance wise it obliterates the S2000, it really is very fast and does it all effortlessly by comparison. However I'll be honest and say that when "on it" its not as fun as the S2000 - but as an every day car and as a "people mover" its better all round.
The engine is still a peach mind, it delivers all 340lb of torque at 1300rpm and happily swings round to 7000rpm.
I have never been a massive contributor to the forum - but I read most days! I'll hang around and probably turn up at the odd local S2000 meet still as I like the chaps!
Cheers.

Ahh you're mad man. I guarantee that BMW will depreciate more than the S2k is worth in 3 years
I'm going to give some Pistonhead man math style advice and say keep the S2000 as it's not likely to depreciate and get a second hand economical people mover. The money you save on fuel will pay to keep the S2000 running on weekends

Depreciation won't affect me as its being bought/hired through the company. So the whole period of running the car is fixed price.
Ill report back when I have the car. After several test drives I think I am happy with the change.

It wouldn't be the S2000 being changed though

I bought an M3 last year for similar reasons.
As enticing as it is on paper I don't think it's a purists car. Too heavy, missing fun factor. It will destroy the S at anything I guess, much better for overtaking, much quicker and has the rear seats I needed.
For all that I do feel it lacks something. But as a dad car BMs are like tanks which is nice. Also has superb traction and brakes and is great in shit weather.
Not as much of an event as driving the S though IMO
I kept my S and don't regret that at all

It won't be as much as an event, of that I am certain. However I am not willing to run both cars, it's a bit pointless.
I'm hoping to be back in a 2 seat sports car in a few years time, but the plan is that it will be an Aston. However if that fails then back to the Honda it will be, nothing else floats my boat.
As for the mrs, she's a keeper. Great condition, owned from new, fairly economical.

I think light is the med term for me. An Aston appeals on no level anymore. But I'm not into GT cars, that much I've learned from the M
I think I've become weight obsessed. Next car will be much lighter.
