Actually, a 335i is probably the best choice although they're not good for boot space.

A 5 series would be better, but that engine's not available.

How about a 550i?

the S5 is MASSIVE

I'm not an Audi fan - they seem to break lots. I'd go for the bimmer

i was reading EVO on the way in this morning - they rated the 335 above the S4 as a drivers car, i think they'd had both as long termers. the S4 was a pile of trouble apparently with steering issues, stereo issues and some other stuff plus it was very thirsty compared to the BM
I think for the budget it will be the previous shape S4 whereas the one evo had was the new shape S4. Still, £20k gets you a nice '06 S4 Avant with 41k..

I said E91 335i

Which is an 'estate' car

^ at least run to the 335d... not much more cash, lots more output, similar economy.

But a 3 series estate doesn't have that big a boot.

You need a 5 if you want some space.

Yes, that's what I meant.

The e91's boot is an awkward shape too.

If you're going to do the estate thing you might as well do it properly.

Exciting topic

Sorry chaps, mised the point there
The Audi A4 boot was a lot smaller than my Passat Estate too so IKWYM.
They actually branded that a 'lifestyle' estate car IIRC.

535d ?
