Yup it's all about calculating the depreciation.

I wouldn't like 60k tied up in a car either tbh.

Yes it does, but if your self employed & run it for business you can claim 85% of the payments as a business expense & also claim the vat back if your registered. correct me if thats wrong.

Just came back from Singapore and Malaysia trip. We (Singapore BMW club and friends) drove upto Sepang, there were 4 E92 M3's and one E90 M3 as well as 5 E46 M3's. To be honest I think the DSG is the better box in both the E46 and E92, certainly is better on track and was very impressive on the motorway on our drive up, if a little harsh. All the M3's were modified most had front and rear Brembo's, GruppeM intakes and exhausts and all were delimited. One os the E92's saw an indicated 310khp on the drive up to Sepang passing us in an E46 (with shorter final drive)doing 260khp (160mph). I have to say the E92 was very impressive for fast road work. although it is close to GTR money once you have gone over the options list. I would suggest trying the DSG the E46 I was in was extremely harsh (more so than the F430) but was great fun when he used launch control coming out of one of the toll booths

The auto box in the E46 is not a DSG (dual spline geabox). It's a normal manual with a load of pneumatics (or hydraulics, not sure which) controlling it.

It has several levels of "ferocity", including the harshest which is only available with the traction control (DSC) switched off.

Neither are proper autos.
