WHY must they do it? You buy a car with a dirty great big engine in it, and then what do they do? Cover it with plastic! Just look at the state of this:



I know Audi don't even let you open the bonnet on their crummy A2's, but for crying out loud this is a V8 Lexus - I'd want to see something like this AT LEAST, wouldn't you?

I guess its made the job alot simpler for model car makers... maybe the heavy mob from Corgi have been round.

it is so they can fook you on servicing. you probably need a bespoke tool to get the placky off.

Because the Germans love adding unnecessary mass and complexity.

It's also to hide the ugliness of the design.

In truth, it's because they don't want you to see the f ucking mess underneath; these cars are incredibly expensive to repair, because they are packaged as insanely as an old Citro

I think you are right; most modern cars look like crappy takes of a cheapo Hot Wheels/ Matchbox Superfast diecast toy from days of yore.
