Any of them really, its his call on price and petrol or Diesel but all of those should run and run no probs.

Avoid 307 - absolute dog of a car.

Focus yes.
V40 I guess so, but boring.
Primera ditto.


Comment - what would be AS cheap to buy, and not dissimilar to run, is the next class up - Mondeo, 406, etc. I'd recommend both Mondeo AND 406 estates, esp. in diesel guise. Lots more space, more toys as standard for the money (they depreciate really badly), good build quality on both. And they both handle very tidily for their size.
