Seems like there may be life in a new NSX yet, bit concerned about how it may turn out though given the comments in the article.....

His comments hint that the next NSX is unlikely to use a V10 engine as seen in the original, and that its platform is likely to be sourced from within the Honda group.
WTF? I've never seen or heard of a v10 NSX

Think they must mean the original NSX replacement, which was going to have a V10. Bit of a misleading sentence though.

Hacks will keep abbreviating "NSX replacement" as "NSX" and confusing everyone.

For those that have been under a stone or dead for tax purposes for the last couple of years, Fukui-san had sanctioned a 5-litre V10 engined SH-AWD supercar (mules powered by either the V10 or the 2.2 Diesel - this would have spawned a new family of Acuras, like Nissan's FM platform) using stretched S2000 panels were widely photographed. Hence I have tried to popularise the GT5000 tag, in order to avoid confusion.

Anyway, the car was so close (about 99% finalised) to production, I suspect tooling had been ordered.

The financapocolypse meant that, the RWD-biased Rlegendo and possibly the S2000 replacement were all suspended indefinitely.

Ito-san replaced Fukui and canned the Acura RL, saying everything will be hybrid & Honda's returning to its roots, etc etc.

One of the rumours was that there was a less halo version of the coupe (referred to as the XGA or the 'new Prelude') and presumably sort of equivalent to the Infiniti G37 coupe).

Like I say, since I suspect tooling might have been ordered and since H. (particularly Acura) is desperate for some halo product before the last remaining fanboys disappear forever, I suspect some sort of resurrection is now being planned.

Meanwhile, we'll all be scooting round in hybrid CR-Zs, wondering why the civic coupe/DC2 felt so much faster, lighter, less refined and more fun...

Whether we get the car (likely under the Acura badge, but unlikely we will receive the Acura brand at all) or not at all if they refuse to badge-engineer it a Honda, is speculation.

If the foregoing all reads like a Pythonesque fiasco, please don't blame the writer.

I can't believe anything that high profile fits with the fairly transparent Honda strategy

However, any publicity is good publicity, as they say

I rather suspect we can look forward to more technological innovation from Honda, but not performance as we recognise it

I honestly think they are as confused by this Acura business are you and I are unaware of it over here, Gad.

I've long believed in that in their attempt to create brand distinction, Hondas are being crapped-down into econoboxes whilst Acuras are the SH-AWD, bells & whistles Audi-watanabe versions.

More confusing, since we get the TSX and RL minus toothy grilles over here as cooking Accords & Legends.

I've long argued that whilst Honda has a long pedigree through biking, F1 and the NSX (even though the unwashed are ignorant of this and most things) Acura is just a silly noise reminiscent of a cheap watch; it would fail even more epically than Honda in the Euro luxury-end market. I mean, at least Audi does have a 100-year heritage, even if it's a bit tenuous in parts.

Anyway, I think Ito-san concurs with Gad-san. The Insight represents their new design language (and possibly the technological mindset) and I expect we'll see a lot more of the same. I suspect they'll be the sort of cars one could recommend unreservedly, but which I wouldn't want to own personally.

looking at their current ads their brand strategy is fairly transparent, as it should be. so yep, tech hybrids, efficiency and innovation rather than performance.

none of those things are cheap, it seems clear which is most likely to suffer, the new ctr is an example of this apparently

The contradiction is that there are noises about making Mugen their AMG/M sub-brand.

Ooohh a Mugen CR-Z. Unless it's like those insipid M-sport bodykits, I cannot see it working in the proper sense.

hmmmm

for anyone but a fanboy, Mugen spells C-H-A-V here

M and AMG may be the same in Japan, of course

but I doubt it
