Default Meguiars - grit guard

Grit Guard

Seems like a good idea. Although not sure about the price for what it is

Anyone got one?

They are a good idea they keep the grit from going back on the car once it has left it and is on the mitt.

I would get it with the large megs bucket for ease as the buckets are larger than the usual one from B&Q / Halfords and so don't fit

A tenner is the going rate even for non megs versions

If you do it right theres no need for one of these. Wash all the crap off first with a hose or pressure washer. now you've only got "road film" on the car. This is such a fine particulate that it does not settle out quickly. so the grit guard is redundant.

Here is an alternative tip. Get a deep bucket, keep it full and don't let your mitt get more than half way into it when rinsig the mitt out.

or use the 2 buckets method. Grit guards are quite good tho.

From the detailing 'hints and tips' I've been reading up on, it says to always use the 2-bucket method. One bucket has the shampoo, the other is just clean water (for rinsing the mitt).

If you only have one grit guard, it should be in the 'clean water' bucket. Best action, though, is to have a grit guard in both buckets.

Might seem like overkill but better safe than sorry

I use 2 buckets with a grit guard in each.
