I was taken out for a lengthy spin in a '58 plate Merc SL63 AMG at the weekend (the NA V8 one).

All I can say is WOW, what an engine. Think that it now holds the award for the fastest car i've ever been in.

I would never get bored of the way that thing accelerated and the sound it made. Very addictive!

Probably end up losing my licence and/or killing myself though very quickly.

I have to say though that it's not a car that's particularly pleasing to the eye!

He reckoned with a heavy right foot, he was getting 5-6mpg out of it.

 

Saw a new red SL in the dealer showroom tonight when my old fella went to collect his SLK.

I always thought those SLs were a a bit but they are seriously nice motors. The interior was so luxurious.

Not my cup of tea though. An older blokes car like a Jag
