Mercedes dual axis steering
What do people think of Red Bull's appeal that it breaks current rules about aerodynamics (art 3.8) and suspension (art 10.2.3)
Toe-in, as Mercedes would defend, is purely about steering, right?

A clever mod by Merc which has left the others behind, hence the protest? But I see their point, is it an adjustment which seems to be against the regs, if Ferrari had done this Mercedes would be screaming blue murder.
Won't translate to ordinary cars as far as I can see? also FIA has banned it from next season. So Merc have got a one season edge.
Didn't know until now F1 set-up with toe out so a slight drag on the straights. Also warms tyres.
Suspension effect claim esoteric for me. Must mug up more.
edit: anyway objection dismissed.

Something been bothering me. Anyone else remember Ackerman steering geometry or built it in Meccano?
It lets the outer front wheel describe a bigger arc than the inner wheel when cornering, so less tyre scrubbing occurs.
So now I don't even understand why toe-out would be necessary for better cornering: have they forgotten Ackerman geometry?
edit: ah ok maybe lets the outer front wheel roll straight while the inner turns in more

Just checked my last wheel alignment print, I run 0.05' toe out on front and rear on my Honda, very slight improvement in turn in and smaller increase in wear, running the camber at max tolerance probably makes more difference.
