Well, we had the test drive this morning and disappointingly, I enjoyed it. Quite impressed with the cooper s hatch. But no verts in stock after all. Gives me time to get a blonde wig, s'pose.

Is there a compartment to keep your scissors and comb?

Well I've bought one. Jan 2013 Cooper S convertible, 33k on the clock. Love that we can go out as a family, just - not much room in the back.

Now the sad part, to sell the Honda. Just need some bloody sunshine.

Sorry to thread jack. My other half wants a mini, most like the mini 'one'

Does anyone have experience with these? Will be spending 3k max, will not be immaculate but is there anything to look for?

People who say MINI is just looks and style are clueless. They are great handling cars, i had one before i get the S2000. Actually it's much more confidence inspiring to push, rock rigid chassis, nice steering wheel and pedal feel. Doesn't have the S2000 gearbox, but it's not bad at all. Great, fun to drive car.

I think like mikefifth is prompting, the One or Cooper are a decent handling little thing. (mikefifth - look out for earlier Gearbox woes.A simple Google will point you in the right direction). They don't have a particularly rosy reputation for reliability and the Cooper S has a disastrous fuel economy (the Supercharged one). Later Turbo'd versions are slightly better on juice but all the same, you have to really want one. I don't think they are long termer's and I've never seen the big attraction to want one.
For people that aren't really into cars, they are a funky little micro-saloon thing - whatever it is. Perhaps a bit too cramped to enjoy, and the rear is bloody useless.

It is, for the most part, a bird's car. A Fiat 500 is the better alternative
