Default Mondeo Problem - light front end ?

I have a Mondeo TDCI 130, and have had for about 3 years.

In recent months I have noticed the front end feeling increasingly light especially when excellrating around corners.

Wheels spinning, a less connected feeling and a general feeling of a flat tyre or bald tyres.

The tyres are Toyo Proxy's with 5mm left, the preasure is spot on and checked regually.

I do give the car some stick through the twisties on my way to work but I have an increased feeling that the car is trying to kill me.

What other things could be wrong that I can check... I thought CV join or Wheel Bearings... both which should make a noise apparently and I dont know if they will give these symptoms.

anyone any clues?

Hardened tyres. Try F1s.

My first thought was alignment - had it done at National Tyres, then redone correctly at Buckleys.

Tyres are only about 2-3 months old, Toyo's and now down to 5mm. Done about 2k miles on them so far but give them some stick.

Could be dampers or springs, will check tonight, hows best to check dampers. Isnt this something MOT would pick up.

It was MOT'd 2-3 months ago.

Make sure you check the rear as well - issues with the rear springs/dampers could also effect the grip at the front end...

Should have been picked up at MOT if they were faulty at that stage but may have failed since...

the MOT will check for leaks etc but they don't really test the dampers, you can get an idea by bouncing the front of the car, if it oscillates signficantly before settling they are knacked

another way is to observe the car over a bumpy road (from another car or standing), if the wheel keeps good contact with the road they are OK

if it's happened since you put the tyres on you can be sure of one thing. it's the tyres. they could be old stock even f you've only just fitted them and the rubber does go off
