MPG difference
I used to consistently get about 240 miles to a tank full in the Scoob - more if i was predominantly doing motorway miles, and a bit less if really caning it.
Now though I'm lucky if I get 200 miles - this is consistent, and I haven't changed anything! Same petrol (Shell & Tesco), same car, same driver, I suppose more air con, and I put new tyres on a while ago, but I don't think they'd make all that much difference?? Not to the tune of 40 miles per tank anyway?
What do you reckon?

No me neither, and I run it all the time anyway (although I suppose it's been working harder recently) and the mpg difference has been for a few weeks, before it got a lot hotter.
Yes it genuinely is using more - I'm putting about 50L in when the empty light comes on at about 200 miles which is about right - if anything it used to be a bit lower (I used to know that at 240 it was about time to fill up, before the empty light came on, and put about 48L in).
And yep appears to be running fine.

The ECO types claim many percent gains in rolling drag.
I started running the company barge (Passat) tyres about 8psi over as if always fully laden when its not.
I'm seeing about 3mpg better on the computer long term average since.
Kills tyres but who cares - I dont pay for them but I do get a fixed rate per mile to claim my diesel back
Also Jo, do you let the car warm on the drive in winter to defrost, but drive of immediately in summer?
You'll be running on enriched cycle if you do and on a computer you can really see how bad that affects the average.
On the Passat it will take 45mins of motorway in this case to get the average back to about 45mpg!

Never really let it warm up no - at least not more than it takes me to scrape the ice off on those rare early mjornings, so a minute tops? Just take it easy for the first few miles whether winter or summer.
I do wonder if it's the tyres then - they were changed just before Christmas, but the mpg started to change a few weeks ago - about the time I upped the pressures on the new tyres. Might fiddle around with the pressures then and see what happens!
