Default MX5 hood leaking.

It seems a cat has been using the other halfs hood as a padding mat. There no obvious damage to the hood until you put water on it and it drips inside. I guess there must be pin prick type holes. We can't afford a new hood so any other ideas to resolve this?

No comments about shooting the cat or anything. I know you sarcy lot would have something to say along those lines!

Brilliant idea!

Jokes aside, I may have blamed the cat unnecessarily as I have just checked the MX5 forums and they have others with the same prob. Its the snow f**ks the waterproofing on the hood. Anyone have advice on resealing the top?

bitumen spray?

what do the mx5 owners use to fix the issue, or don't they bother?

I have no idea what would be suitable for a ragtop. I was hoping someone here has done it before.

Is the MX5 (rev 2.5 2003) hood vinyl?

I already did and thats how I found the original prob maybe wasnt a cat as a few other have the same issue but there was no clear answer on how to resolve it. Dont worry, I'll work it out myself.

i'd go with the tent waterproof option then if theres no obvious solution.

not sure if those 'cleaning' products that XD posts are waterproofing, or just anti-dirt - maybe drop him (or one of the other detailers) a PM to see if they can recommend something...

http://www.vertar.com/renovo/renovo-hood-ultraproofer/ looks good from the comments...
