Default My 111R

I have owned my Elise for less that 3 weeks. It's an 04 plate 111R with 8k on the clock.

Day 1 of ownership: Discovered the blind spot by reversing into the wife's car causing a couple of hundred of pounds worth of damage to the rear clam. Doh!

Day 22 of ownership: Drivers door won't shut. Minor issue with a loose nut that I resolved and felt very pleased with myself.

Day 23 of ownership: Can not change gear! I can't get the fecker to move and it's taken away for fixing by the garage who sold it to me. All sense of being pleased has dissapeared. I am now driving a horrible BMW 1 series whilst it is repaired. Looks like it needs a new clutch as first inspection suggests the clutch material has come away from the clutch plates.

I am hoping this is a case of bad things that come in threes and not a case of Loads Of Trouble Usually Serious!

Same thing happened with the S2000 when I get it. A rear puncture, keys disappearing down a drain and a skirmish with a motorway crash barrier in the first few months of ownership!

I bought a 1/18th scale model Elise off ebay last week (for my daughter to play with).

The manufacturers of the model have done a very good job making it just like the real thing.

So far the roll bar and one of the mirrors have fallen off.

(I have also been looking at the real things)

was owned by a woman though, wasn't it?

that goes with the low mileage and explains the fecked clutch

Shit happens. Driving rubbish cars makes you appreciate the Lotus more. The first 6 months of ownership of mine was gash too, but most of it was my doing.

After that it's been more or less trouble free motoring for the last 12 months.

Chin up.

Exactly my thoughts.

Good news is that the garage is replacing it at their cost and have provided me transport in the mean time.

Are there any other items that are susceptable to infrequent female driving?

Do tell more about the first 6 months of your ownership.

I must have come across more peeved than I intended in my original post. My chin is most definitely up that this happened in week 3 of ownership and not month 6, when it would all be out of my pocket.

I had that when driving along with an ex in the car, resulting in the passenger door coming open when going round a bend.

Happily, the door didn't hit anything, unhappily, the ex didn't fall out

I've said before (HGF on the K-series notwithstanding), they are niggly not unreliable cars. You need to keep on top of keeping things oiled/tight more than on, say, a Honda. (Count yourself lucky you don't have a cable operated boot release ).

These things tend to show more when they've been stood on a dealer's forecourt a while (don't know if that is true in your case).

I'd say the clutch was just bad luck...
