Default My first visit to the Ring ...

Just back from a trip to the Nürburgring Nordschleife that spanned two evening sessions.

It was my first time there and I had no specific track insurance so really not a time for heroics. Planned to drive at 80% of my ability/capability but it felt at times like I was at 90%. Watching my videos back, it's pretty clear I was closer to 70%. That said, better that the car and I are in one piece than any of the nasties you watch on YouTube.

Cracking two days weatherwise. "Lufttemperatur" was 31ºC so the track would have been pretty hot, which no doubt explains all the tyre squeal. With a best time of 9'18" bridge to gantry, and assuming I could easily average over 120mph for the gantry to bridge straight (the distance beween which is apparently one mile exactly) that would put no more than 30 seconds on to my time putting me squarely in the sub 10 minute club. I'm happy with that.

My best lap - that Porker scared me a bit at Metzgefeld 2 but perhaps I was a bit over eager to get out his way

A slightly slower but (I think) neater 9'23"

Happy with all my lines, particularly through Schwedenkreuz ...

You never forget your first Ring trip.
I've been going for years and the first one is always the most memorable.
I was there just last weekend (bank holiday ) and it was red hot..

I was thinking you did a cracking lap time for your first visit and then noticed you were in a Subaru (impreza? ) my best time in a standard S2000 is 9:30 which I think is pretty good for std S2 with Road tyres.
Anyway nice videos, glad you enjoyed it.

On the bucket list that but the youtube content concerns me.. plus it seems always packed, for me that can intrude somewhat on a track event.

scooby sounds good

A GoPro Hero 5 Black. It has GPS, an accelerometer and via its (ironically named) Quik programme, it overlays that data on the video. Mounted it on one of these ...

What’s £350? The mount? I’ve got a hero 5 paid £200 for it in Dubai. I also have the gopro fusion 360 cam. Just never knew it could do that.
