My trip to Center of Gravity
Damn it would have been good to meet you. Chris mentioned you and the car.
I am currently (destroying my way through) a set of Pirelli PZero Asimmetrico's which have lasted well but I don't really rate. They seem noisy and whilst good at high speed the don't seem very 'grippy'
Chris seems to rate the Pilot Sports so off to Costco I go when I've got through these.

I also fitted my CG-Lock yesterday. I never really had the confidence in the car to pin me into it harder before. Not anymore certainly gave it what for on the way to Oulton and back.

I suspect I'll be going there when I've worked my way through the P Zeros that were on the 993 when I bought it.
And also to see Chris once I've liberated some cash to throw at the car
first off, I'm not having a dig at any of the previous posts; this is a more general observation
I cannot see any point in basing tyre choice on cost (on a performance car)
I don't think it matters what car we are talking about, the differential between a set of cheaper premiums versus expensive premiums will rarely be more than about

Michelin Pilot Sports because of their price - they're popular on the 911 and tend to be highly thought of. There do seem to be differences of opinion as to which is best between Continentials, Pirellis, Michelins etc - and to some extent I suppose it depends on whether the car is a daily driver or a weekend toy. There certainly seems to be a lot more debate within the Porsche community about which is the "best" tyre than there is on here.
I have them on the M5 now-down to 3mm and therefore need changing. Most of my spirited driving has been in the wet and I thought the grip was pretty poor-however I suspect this is more likely to be with my unfamiliarity with the car rather than the tyres.
Took it out yesterday-completely different story.
I know Pete has just opted for the OEM tyres on the M but they appear very difficult to source.
Mark-If you see any further offers from Cosco let me know.
Re. cost the Michelin are more expensive than the Pirelli. Unless of course you can get to Costco. As Mark said they only carry Michelin.
You don't have a lot of choice with Porsche anyway as the tyres should be N rated. I guess it's you as the driver finding the tyre you prefer on your car.
