It looks better than the old one - which I thought looked OK anyway.

Still can't (for me) justify the premium over the Honda though. I made a surprising discovery recently :-

Per Autocar stats -

Honda - % value retained after 1st 3 yrs - 60%
Boxster - % value retained after 1st 3 yrs - 71%

When you convert that into cash, you have lost as much money over 3 years with the Boxster as you have with the Honda, as the Honda is much cheaper to start with. Sums just don't add up for me.
I would not be surprised if you get less of a percentage discount on a new Boxster as compared to a new S2000 - therefore, if the stats are comparing list price against three year old value, the S2000's percentage depreciation will seem artificially high (there's lies, damn lies and then there's stats...)

There is only one reason to buy a 911 over a Boxster - more money than sense!

BTW, changing the EMS is complex, which is all that seriously prevents a 3.6 being dropped in a Boxster, so I have read!

911 Owner here

There are lots of reasons why I went for the 911 over the Boxster,
Image, looks, 2+2, much quicker, more involving to drive, less common and a few other resons

I quite like em, (mind you I have to say that since one of the S2kJocks has gone over to the dark side)

If I could afford one and if it didn't have the porsche badge on the front then I would really consider it.

To some the porsche image is a plus point, to me I'm afraid it is something I would have to "get over"

more involving to drive,
What exactly do you mean by this?

I have always wanted a 911 - another option for me is to keep my Honda long term, and find a used 993 C2.

In what way is a 911 different from the S2000 to drive?

You should drive one yourself, in order to understand for yourself.

I should also do so. I have driven a Boxster, which is very pleasant. I have not driven a 911, due to lack of incentive to do so. This is based upon my prejudice against rear engined vehicles. Drop the double-wishbone suspension and the 3.6 into a Boxster, you probably have my idea of fun.

I understand that the lower end 911s are some people's idea of fun, but the 4wd ones are probably too "assisted" to have the sort of driver involvement that the true 911s (and the S2000) require.

I'm comparing my 911 to Boxster not the S2000 Euan but,

I'll try and give you some info.

The feed back through the steering wheel is spot on and you know what

Anything else?
Mmm... must look at my finances again, and consider a test drive sometime if I can find a good independent dealer. Franchsied dealers never seem to have anything mroe than 3-4 years old.
