Default The new distraction ?

I followed a Poxhall Vectra estate for a few miles tonight in heavy traffic and managed to watch quite a bit of Mission Impossible 2 on his DVD screen that hung from the roof inside the car.

While feeling sorry for the poor bloke for either having children with no imagination, or not wanting to talk to them, it was a hell of a distraction for me and a few other drivers.

Anyone else noticed this ? Its very apparent in the dark

Yes, and once with no one in the back watching, I think the driver was just posing.

I've got a Duty of Care meeting tomorrow and I am re-writing the car handbook and it's been suggested that I make mention of TV's and the fact that they are a distraction much like a mobile phone so therefore disallowed.

I used to have a 7" telly in the MR2.

Plugged it into my Xbox. Had a few dvd's, loads of music videos.

Used to just play Halo when stuck in a traffic jams.

That's really quite funny.

I find this modern obsession with staring at moving pictures & complete disregard of the real world outside (as a roadster driver, perhaps understandable) extremely concerning.

OK, I'd rather read the transcript, rather than download another crappy video of a another shit presentation, and when I find another You TUBE! linky I hit the back button, so it's a tad extreme.

But this 'must be entertained at' mentality creates small, brainwashed, unquestioning minds.

Give the far king sprogs a cardboard box & some scissors, FFS. Surface development's far more fun.

I overtook a wandering artic' on the A1 a short while ago and looked up to see that the driver had a portable DVD player on the dash.
