Default New SLK

The new SLK has been launched, with hints of the AMG (which I'm not a fan of)

Car Launch Article

The side view makes the bodywork / grill forward of the headlights look grafted on rather than integral. Perhaps it's because of the S2000 with a very low bonnet line above the wheels that makes me think this just looks too high. I also don't like the 3 dimensional headlamp design. Difficult to describe exactly what I mean, but the unit has a top, side and front, all exposed, whereas usually a headlamp would only have the front (obviously) and one other surface visible. Or just one curved face (eg the S2000)

The roof line and rear - again from the side view - look like a BMW Z4

I actually prefer the current model.

I suspect the front is as a result of pedestrian safety legislation - although it does vaguely resemble the SLS.

I think I need to see one in the flesh before i make my mind up.

I suspect I'll err on the side of "not a massive fan".

Spot on, it seems quite a few new cars have that silly nose - Volvo did it first of course.

5-series
Jag XJ
C, E and S-Class Mercedes.

It's lost its curvy lines
I wonder if the "Sports Pack" improves the handling any and if they have sorted the $hit gear box?

Current SLK55 might be a cheap/good buy next winter

Merc and Audi are brands which really turn me off, unless it's a "Black" or "R8"

Dull.

Looks a bit like a SLS, no bad thing, i quite like it...but think I would get the Z4 over it, the engines are a bit wooly!

I have been looking at an SLK 350 recently but have resisted the temptation to drive it .... the new model looks almost the same ... hardly worth the effort ....
