Default Next car choice

Funds arrived in my account today for the sale of my s2000. The car is being collected on Saturday so I need to make a decision on the next car. Currently a toss up between ATR and Impreza. You thoughts please, need four doors and a reasonable boot.

ATR = Accord Type R

Not having owned either, I can't help though.

ATR = nice looking, honda quality, resonably fast, sprog mobile

Impreza = fast, 4wheel drive, chaviness, too many about IMO

How does the ATR cope with being fully laden? Appears that the threadstarter wants a family car that's fast, it'll be fast with just him in it but not so fast when laden up. a beefier (yes, torqier ) engine'd car would still deliver.

I dont think you will go wrong with either. The ATR does have a touch more class about it if it bothers you.

For the money you will be looking at a UK MY99/00 classic shape. If you get a silver or blue I actually think they are still a really nice car. Its when people gay them up with add on's they look chav.

The Scoob can obviously be tweaked, and a grand can get you to 270 bhp from 215. If its not already been tweaked.
