Default Number plate placing.

I've been thinking about removing the plate surround and considered the placement of the plate, so, I thought I could maybe put it in the rad cooling entry, this would mean iy would lie nearly flat, checked the dvla sites regardind placement but no help there, any ideas, I am going to ask at my local mot station but maybe dont want to hear them say no.

Basically banning stick on plates and making them be mounted as 'vertical as possible'

VOSA are tightening up on the number plate details in the MOT - they are now required to check it (still only visually) meets standards - i.e. Must be reflective, mounted vertically (ruling out stick-ons on the bonnet) and be the correct font or it'll fail. Just a heads up.
