Oh FFS BMW...
It would appear, what BMW think we all need is another soft-roader. When truth be told this passing fad needs putting to bed sooner rather than later. What was that about a fool and his money being easily parted??????

Please be aware the rest of my post is nothing more than a pointless selfish rant at these pig ugly 4x4's. You can ignore this bit of my post if you wish.
The X5 is more often than not driven by bully boys who happily camp out in the outside lane of the motorway with their foot welded to the carpet, and how dare anyone imped their progress.
The X3 was for "soccer Mum's" who wanted a "prestige badge" so they could keep up with the school run Mum's, but not have to drive anything as environmentally irresponsible as an X5.
Then they gave us the vomit inducing X6. Which is meant to be sporty and rugged, but clearly fails on both counts as it's safe to say they've haven't been a sales success (with the exception of those sold in Surrey no doubt).
And finally the X1, this little tyke will be cutting you up and hogging the outside lane any day soon now.

Rant over.

I quite like it.
I would find it hard to criticise any X1 owner (or whatever X-series, LR, RR, CR, ML etc etc) when one drives a fairly pointless 240 bhp, rear wheel drive, two seater convertible.
Different strokes for different folks...

Oddly enough, Honda (about the size of BMW) make the Crossroad, Element, CR-V, RDX, Passport, MDX and the Seedy-X soon.
Probably because none of them are sold here, no-one complains.
Admittedly, in some ways, the Hondas (and some are Acuras) are rather more interesting than BMW's photocopier-technique.
Much as I too find all of these school-run specials questionable, I also find having anything to do with school runs equally questionable, so my mind is not sufficiently harrassed to be able to comment with any authority.
However, one might assume that as conspicuous consumption falls from fashion, a return to a sort of stylish, lower, MPV-cum-CUV-cum-traditional Estate car might happen; the aforementioned ZDX is about the weirdest thing one could imagine!

There is something wonderfully offensive about the X6M. Tha Cayenne Turbo briefly had it, but after the Audi Q7 and that, it is too pretty, too tasteful.
I've got a hankering for a Unimog, in a sort of Crocodile Dundee way! Wonder if AMG could look at it for me?
