Mmmm...

mind you, a cheap, lightened Lotusfied MGF could be fun.

Can't see it happening though - they never created any "hot" Protons IIRC.

Oh, it's out of embargo!

MGF sports cars? What is this, Sci-fi or something? They've clearly replaced the K with worp drive, so it can go back in time.

I'm glad, anyway. The motor industry's become a very boring place, without those wacky Brummies!

I don't see how even Lotus can make an Austin Maestro (no really) chassis with gas dampers be anything other than utterly shite. And then there's the cosmetics/badge issues.

Having said that, I bet it sells by the bucketload.

Good luck to them I say. The British Government did sweet FA to help out last major car manufacturer in this country.......had this happened in France, they would have pumped millions into it to save the jobs.

MG need to carry on with the MGF, but replace that nasty K series engine, and get Lotus to sort out the ride/suspension etc so it goes round corners better. They might then be in with a fighting chance, as the badge does still have a strong following, even if it has been a bit misplaced in recent years.

They did, and it actually got very good press at the time:

I think Hypersonik was last seen in BenR's shed, playing with his tool(ing machine).

Actually, the Maestro's chassis wasn't too bad. Except in turbo form.

It was everything else on it that was shit.

Still, with Nanjing selling MGs & SAIC selling Rovers, it's gonna get silly pretty soon.
