Default One rule for them - another for us ?

I was overtaken by a Plod Ford Focus yesterday. I was doing 85 and he flew past me...no lights....no sirens.....

Are they allowed to do that ?

We saw this today - it was there for at least 1.5 hours

In strictness, no; they are supposed to appeal the ticket on the grounds of official business.

This actually wastes a lot of time and rates.

I'm not sure if the 'blind eye' is still turned though; the whole 'service industry economy' seems to involve jobsworths raping money out of other jobsworths.

Yes .... lights and siren only used if needed - they sometimes draw attention when you don't want it. Speeding without using them is down to the driver - I speed to probably 40% of my calls but feel the need to warn people of my presence or use my exemptions under the Road Traffic Act in only about 5% of those calls .... each call is different and warrants a different level of 'progress'.

As for the car on double yellows - they could have been there for anything from dealing with a rape victim to getting an urgent statement. The car is not normally parked too far away in case the officers are required to go somewhere in a hurry.

Yes, as has been mentioned already it could get a ticket and then the officers have to spend about 40 minutes filling in forms which have to go through 2 other line managers before the matter is concluded - most 'wardens' leave marked cars alone .... but not all!

Worthing wardens' approach (where that pic was taken) will be interesting

They have just been 'NCP'd'
