From Sky News:

"Reports suggest the crash happened after a Mercedes was driven on the wrong side of the road on the Chugoku expressway.

Japanese newspaper The Daily Yomiuri said 10 people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The group of drivers was reportedly made up of self-employed "car enthusiasts", who were travelling from Kyushu to Hiroshima.

Pictures of the scene show the motorway littered with debris from the damaged cars.

Among the vehicles were two Ferrari F430s, two 360 Modenas, two F355s, a Lamborghini Diablo and a Nissan GTR."

based off the video and the way the story on Yahoo reads, they are trying to put blame on the supercars owners, when it has nothing todo with them.

Well, of course.

Petty jealousy is everywhere.

It would certainly appear they weren't keeping a safe-distance from one another...

One report I read said that a car hit a piece of barrier that was on the carriageway, and then the other cars piled into the back of each other.

Let's be honest this is a nothing story that should not be given any column inches. Had the cars been worth no more than 50p each, then only the local rags would have covered the "story". The rest of the World would/should have been none the wiser

...like 99% of people do when they drive on a motorway. No doubt driving too close caused most of the deaths on the M5 last month. But's let blame it on some mysterious black smoke instead

For that many to lose it I'd be inclined to agree.
Looks like we can add Fezza Red paint to the shortages in Japan

So does everyone.

The two second rule only works presuming progressive rates of deceleration; once things start stopping instantanously, it breaks down a lot.

That's how pile-ups happen.
