For some reason I can't open that link.

I can imagine the content and there is no way they could introduce anything like that over here and continue to maintain the safety argument that speed kills.

hmmm it's pretty flawed.

I paid my $16 to speed for the right to speed, but got held up in traffic for the whole journey - I want my money back..

This implies if your car meets the safety checks you're fine to speed. What is missing from the equation is the safety check on the driver.

Fundamentally flawed and I would be stunned if this was ever to be made legal....

...but it is in america....

Calls into question the whole point of speed limits.....

May be a license to shoot at people next.... Only in America

I read somewhere recently that the M6 toll hasn't helped congestion

It certainly has every time I've used it!

All the time it's ok to pay for better education and health care

I'm in favour of being able to pay for less congestion or travelling faster

that bugs me though. it's not ok is it? not exactly a meritocracy

saide frost was quoted the other week saying dave milliband and sam mendes used to chase her round the playground and Boris Johnson was in the year above. the only famous person from my school was a kid who went nuts and climbed onto a sports centre roof to throw rocks at the school.

so paying to break the law is wrong.. but i use the m6 toll (does have cops on though which is a shame)

I think it's outrageous and really quite shameful

maybe I should have said 'legal'

but it's probably best discussed in o/t

I wouldn't worry about that

sooner or later motorways will be toll roads

the writing is already on the wall

if you need it, the government will (eventually) tax it
