Potential S2000 Replacements
I saw a Tamora yesterday on the way to the Trafford centre - parked up outside a Victorian terrace, with a cover on its roof - probably to sod the cats off.
but it's a bloody lovely car to look at, just that sodding chocolate engine that is the fly in the ointment. I still want one more than a Porsche.
Love it's rarity. It would kill your wallet mind

I can't find a raised eyebrow emoji on here. But it's the appropriate one.
Edit - to be fair, it doesn't look bad, but given that I've discovered howucj the aural side of cars is important to my enjoyment of them, electric will never manage it.

Having seen a new MG up close I wouldn't go anywhere near one lol they are cheap crap imo
Electric cars are great for traffic light GP twats but electric sports car? It's gonna struggle at the first deviation from straight ahead and it won't be fun despite what youtube twats will tell you.
but then I'd feel the same way about an RS6 or some other German tank so it might be a fringe opinion
Meanwhile the hyabusa V8 S2000 is the best idea I had in years

It would be interesting!
Have to agree. I think the 911 is over the limit. Cayman and Boxster at the top end weight wise.
I really like the S2 in terms of its compromise of solidity Vs weight. I'd like a kit car too but I dunno whether I would take my lad in one, they are basically a bike. That feels like his decision tbh

Going through the same conversation with myself the last few years. With more frequency/urgency the last month or so. I went through a lot of the options discussed here. Lotus: great for track days and short mountain road sprints, but build quality isn't the greatest and I wouldn't want to take it on a long road trip. Jag F-type - great looking car, but overall too numb and detached and firmly in the Grand Tourer set. Same with the Astons. I drove the early Boxster when I was originally shopping for this car (2009) and came away less than impressed and the cabin didn't fit me well. (I'm 6'4"). Since I'm in America, I toyed with a Corvette, but I just can't get my head around them, maybe because I've never owned an American car. Seems like many of the guys who drive them are the same ones who have a Harley. Mustang - well that was originally designed and marketed for women, and that's still the majority of people who drive them (the pansy V-6 models are everywhere). So lately I've been looking at what the Cayman/Boxster platform has been doing since those early versions, and much to my surprise, I find myself drawn to the 718 Cayman. It seems like the essence of what the 911 used to be before it got too bulky. Like the S2000, it's sensible with storage, and you could see you and your lucky partner embarking on extended road trips in it. It's got more power than the S2K, and better brakes, but also weighs about 400 pounds more. The engine output per liter is astounding, which also means it's efficient and those aforementioned long road trips won't break the bank on fuel costs. I'm driving from Phoenix to San Diego later this week and I'm renting one to give it an extended test drive. I figure if I'm plunking down that kind of cash, I'd like more than 10 minutes with a salesman who tries to tell me which streets to take on his prescribed test drive route. We will see what happens from there. It'll take a definitive push for me to move on from my beloved S2000, so nothing is settled, but the wheels are in motion.
