Default PS2 Driving Games

Hi all,

I am going to the Nurburgring in September and 3 friends have said that the best advice / preparation was to buy a driving game with Nurburgring track on it.

I sold all my PS2 games a few years back but I still have the console. Anyone recommend any games so I can be like Lewis Hamilton and practice my heart out.

Can't remember if GT3 had it or would people recommend GT4?

Cheers
James

GT4 has it and can be picked up cheap. However a cheaper and better alternative is watching videos of people lapping the ring. The games don't show the gradients, change of surfaces or the length of straights correctly. Whereas the videos are correct. #

Something like this

Or there's my half lap:

You can get GT4 for about 20 bucks.

I'd suggest playing as many variations as possible.

PS2 : GT4
Xbox : Forza & ProjectGotham

All are slightly different and enough so you learn the track differently.

I've played 1000's of laps on consoles and everytime I get to the track, it's all new (but I at least know where the corners are).

It's like seeing a photo of someone, and then seeing them in real life. The same, but a lot different.

I did a cost analysis of my last ring trip on the Summer ring trip thread if you want scaring.

I did 31 laps over 4/5 days.

Tourist Trophy (Motorbike game) has it too and is fantastic for prep. I think the game runs on the GT4 engine, but the bikes are slower on the corners and you can feel the cambers etc.

I found it excellent help as I knew every corner of the track when I got there as the game is incredibly accurate.

From what I've read the GT4 version of the Nurburgring is the most accurate. Tourist Trophy does use the same game engine as GT4.

Having been to the ring. Forza 2 is MUCH closer to the real ring than GT4. But neither really prepares you for the real thing.
