Default Red

At the end of the season, my BMW E30 race car is going to be rebuilt into a shiny new shell which means I get to choose the colour for a change.

I like red. A lot.

I'm after a bright red and the current favourite is the 80s Ferrari Rosso that my Caterham was painted in.

I saw a Mazda 3 MPS thing the other day in a stunning red but it turned out to be metallic which I don't think is great for repairs.

Any others I should be considering?

Maybe Alfa, or are they all darker?

My brother wanted me to have it same colour as his so it wouldn't show up so badly when there's contact

Or go for an Army Camouflage paint job, that way you can sneak up on your competitors and overtake them...

More seriously, the original E30 red is a lovely colour. My best mate has one and it looks fantastic. IMHO the last really good looking car BMW made.

It's easy to miss the obvious choices sometimes.

Red is boring.

What about Brawn white/green?

How mush is it setting you back? Would they do a deal on respraying 2 at once. Team colours

I know it's not the most imaginative but I like red.

It will have some sort of stripes/design on it too.

Brawn colours have been done, I quite like it though:

The shell I'm expecting to cost a few £K in total as there's quite a few new parts going on but the paint alone should be somewhere between £500 and £800 at mate's rates.

Are you considering a spruce up?
