Default Retention--Turnaround time?

Hi,

Has anyone any experience of how long it actually takes to get the paper work back from Dvla after applying to put a pp plate on retention?

The car is an import and has had it's own plate before, I also applied at a local Dvla office, even though they seemed to just put it in an envelope and send it off to dvla

I've been told 3-6 weeks, but hoping someone will tell me that's just to cover their backs and will take a far shorter period of time
Time is of the essence, as I'm hoping to sell the plate on.

They quoted me the same 6 weeks but in practice I had the retention certificate and the new reg for my car back in just over a week when I had to do this around this time last year.

I'm wondering if it complicates matters as it's been declared a total loss

It's down to the speed of the local office.

Some are fast, some are slow....

yes it is, and I'm not saying Needs to say I'm not sure I'll have another, never ever run crap tyres, and drive like even more of a grandad in the rain I got a banger to drive around in, and I miss the S so much, just got the insurance lark to sort out, the fact I under valued it for the insurance and have an excess sucks, but it could have been worse.

The old dear has just bought a new Toyota Auris and has waited weeks now for the transfer of her cherished plate.

According to the dealer, there's been some industrial action at the DVLA and cherished transfers have taken a lower priority ...
