Reviving a SORNed Boxter S
I agree about the Porcshe FSH; false economy.
Also agree that it probably needs nothing more than a squirt of WD40 & a jump to get it going.
I'm being a lazy bastard right now, so if you want me to take a look...

My 911 sits in the garage all winter. The battery is diconnected. When I start it up, I just connect batteries, pull the fuel pump relay and crank the engine, replace fuel pump relay and fire up properly. No rocket science just because it's a Porsche. Don't know if this is the same for Boxster though as mine is aircooled but I would assume it would not be much different.

start it up (as normal, although you may have a flat battery)
Let it tick over for a few mins - upto temperature
Check for any leaks/stuff dripping on the floor
Take it for a good drive

My thoughts exactly.
Its not been laid up for years, nothing will be wrong.
Tyre pressures and a flat battery is all you'll be up against.

An old 911 doesn't have that rubbish & basically shouldn't suffer too much. Actually, even the modern ones are refreshingly 'simple' which is why they're still light.
Adviseable to do an oil change after its first run, once oll the rust's been washed out of the engine etc.
But again, this is the same as ANY car and really, there's nothing particularly sensitive just because it's a Porsche. Many bits are shared with other cars.
Thanks everyone - you've put my mind relatively at rest.
It's up at my sister's in Cambridgeshire at the moment, so I'll probably go up next weekend and see what's what. If not, I'll wait till after my holiday in a few weeks and collect it late March.
One thing - once I do get it running, it won't be taxed, so if I drive it straight to a garage for an MOT, I take it that's legal? Will there be a risk of being snapped by some sort of police camera and getting a fine in the post without dispensation?
It's such a hassle!

It must be a pre-arranged test. Then I understand you're covered for the lack of VED.
So long as you go directly there, and directly back you are perfectly legal to attend a pre booked test.
My BIL is an MOT tester.
