.... and rust doth corrupt ....
Not trying to belittle the process because I'm keen to do something similar, albeit with a much more modern car but I'm sure the principles are the same.
I'm so glad this worked out for you MQ,. As I've said before ,I have a soft spot for the TR 4 and the results look like they make all the aggrevation worth it in the end. Can we request you bing the TR to a Herts. meet?
It has cost us twice as much as it should have done Coldfuse. With hindsight we should have re-joined the TR register, we used to belong when the car was on the road years ago. We would then have taken Moo to a Triumph specialist for restoration in the first place. This restoration was not planned. If Mr Q had not met enthusiasts when he played in the jazz band at the Panshanger Revival the car would probably still be mouldering away in the potting shed.
You might have read in the thread that we decided against having an enthusiast restore it in his spare time and that the restorers we took the car to first were recommended by the people who blasted and zinc-coated the panels for us. We were impressed by the exotic array of vehicles they were working on but we realise now that they didn’t have the intimate experience necessary to work effectively on the TR.
UF is correct, one can’t put a price on what the car means to us. Mr Q should probably have sold it as it was but he realised that he couldn’t bear to part with it. He is happy that it is back and says that he would have hated it if it had been sold and put back on the road by someone else.
If the car had gone to Robsport in the first place the result would have been perfect, as it is there are issues which we have decided to live with Nottm, I‘ll add the wonky plate to the list arsie.
Saz and I are drivers, not tinkerers or buffers, we’ll definitely be bringing Moo to meets Paul and Chip.

Tart the garage up, put a projector in there with a big screen and you and Mr Q can watch your favourite films in your own private drive in after a drive out
Definitely a car for lazy afternoon summer drives in the afternoon sun
