Default S & M?!

Good morning all,

The time has come for a change! I've owned my S2000 for the last six years (MY 2000, Silverstone) and have loved every minute of it. The other fantastic thing about owning an S2000 is the infomation available on this forum. I have been an official lurker for years but the instruction/advice available here really is second to none.

I'm now ready for a change and have already arrived at two potential cars. The two cars that I have shortlisted are a BMW M3 convertible or an Audi S4 convertible. Each of these cars fit the bill in terms of what I'm looking for, convertible, power, four seats, boot space etc.

The first thing to admit is that I haven't driven either car as yet, something I intend to remedy shortly. I'm genuinely unsure which car to go for and have no doubt a test drive of both will help with a decision!

My initial thoughts are;

The M3 is much more 'aggressive' in the flesh, but there is a certain stereotype associated with these cars. I wouldn't necessarily let this put me off but it is something to consider......

The S4 is quite understated in its styling, the chrome wing mirrors and the 'S' badge are the only things that give it away as a different A4.

I realise that both these cars are completely different to the S2000, but any advice/comments from the illustrious S2ki board would be more than welcome!!

Thanks!

K

Running costs are more expensive than an S2000

Lloyd,

Thanks for the info. Are you pleased with yours? Any thoughts/experience with an S4?

I'm very pleased with the M3, never driven an Audi so can't really comment on the S4

Good website for M cars is www.bm3w.co.uk

E46 M3 prices have dropped so you should be able to get a late, low mileage, fully spec'd car for about
