mikeyk,
Lighter than an Elise S1 - it's 800kg including all fluids, 50% fuel and a 75kg driver. So that makes the car itself about 700kg on vapour kerb weight.

BassO,
Yep, the Indy Dealer I go to suggested steels for track and put R888s on them just for trackdays (still an option), but I specifically went with the small trackline alloy wheels so that I'd have wider rubber on a smaller wheel.

NG,
I was also keen on the project kimber stuff, but it's all gone very quiet, especially since Gordon Murray's been doing his city car, with 70% fewer parts than the smart forTwo (around 1000, down from 3000).

On track, the biggest challenge with the car is the gearbox - there were a couple of times I had a car behind me coming out of a hairpin, while I was waiting for 3rd gear to engage... perhaps the sports clutch is the next step... only 20% more to buy & install than a stock one.

I'm Glad everyone's finding this interesting They are definitely not as well built as an S, but when all I want is a road-legal go-kart that'll top 100mph, they fit the bill fine.
