Real'' men rely on their own navigational skills or, at worst, a map, a survey by www.motorinsurance.co.uk found.
I must admit I had been against them but they are very useful for the last few miles of your journey as it is safer than trying to look at the map.
Actually, I felt redundant as I have always been the navigatinal system when travelling with The Man. Now I can sleep instead.
Also it allows you to plan your traffic management by telling you how far you are from your next junction. This is very useful in busy but flowing motorways.
Like any technology, we need to keep our common sense and not lose map reading skills.
I never wanted one but then i got 6 points on my license. I use it all the time for speed cam locations & won't drive anywhere outside my local area without it. I also use it when on the continent for navigation.
Overall, a very handy piece of kit & i'm surprised i like it so much.
