Default Satnav for bikes

Anyone got one? Are they any good?
Any recommendations?

Or are they evil monstrosities that will only cause accidents?

You can use some of the cheaper Garmin units with a bike IIRC.

No use on a bike IMHO, I wouldnt use motorways etc. I Suppose avoid motorways could be used, but it'd be more fun on a bike just exploring

Plenty people use them - lots of chat about satnav on the Bikers Oracle VFR forum. Seem to be just about as many different opinions on the different units as there are on here though

You'll need earphones though if you want to listen to the instructions - not sure I'd like to spend time looking at a tiny screen too much on a bike.

Actually likely to be more useful on a bike Ian, as you don't have room for a huge road atlas.

It's bad enough sometimes on the S2000: On a VFR, it's gotta be pointing at the sky!

I can see the point though; speed cams, alternative routes, squirt stations, etc...

There are even pushbike versions coming out, too!

I suppose it's touring riders that use them the most, thinking about it.

The majority of riders I guess commute and/or ride out for fun. The former you know where you are going, the latter you don't really care I took a wrong turn in the Borders this afternoon, but it was a nice evening, quiet roads, and reckoned that if I headed vaguely North I'd find Edinburgh at some point ..................
