Default Seen that new boot on the Skoda?

Yes, it must be a sign of age but it did intrigue me

Is there ANYTHING that VAG won't make unnecessarily complex, heavy and pointless these days?

Hardly a convenient load-carrying shape, for a start.

Maybe they should have a concertina-section in teh C Pillars, so you can pull the rear window out and convert it into an estate car?

An then the whole cabootle could fold into the boot, in case the sun shines.

And the rear section of the floorpan & doors should unbolt, so you can lose the middel section like your dining table, and bolt the two ends together gaain to make a coupe/roadster/HPE depending on where you'd left the roof & stuff.

Hang on, Dr Pi

My dad had a Focus saloon some years ago. Completely shit for fishing rods. With this sort of design you have a boot and a hatch. I think it's a great idea if boots are your thing.

I am quite sure such a design will be seen on other cars in the future. All booted saloons can be hatchbacks as well now.
