Good as the cars sound (if moderns are the benchmark) that failure list is pretty shocking! Only one example I know but it doesn't inspire confidence in terms of longevity.

I agree. Even as a rental it'd put me enough as i have no patience with dragging cars to dealers and shit.

They arent cheap either, although maybe in the short term.

But a rwd hatch with 300+bhp is all good. They'll make a good track car stripped in 5 years i bet

Yup, another M135i. M2 no deals and too long a wait.

Might have to stick an LSD on it this time around though.
Chilled did you look at the 235i?

Are there any differences between the two?
Couple of HP, nicer looks on the 2, it costs a bit more and it has better front spring rates. But I can't fit the bikes in the back as easily so I decided to stick with the 1er. But the 235 is essentially the same car in a slightly different package.

It's a lease, so I'll miss a small chunk of money each month less than a big lump sum. Plus I do like a full manufacturer warranty and shiny new cars. I got a better deal, so it's actually less a month and the CTC was pretty small too. Horses for courses.

Mine's been cheap to run and faultless save for slightly oval wheels due to cheese being the primary wheel material. Or maybe the fecking shite road surfaces.

i think the hard suspension is also guilty

i'm on Arsie's old forged wheels now but never had an issue with previous ones either. Did they fracture or just buckle causing a kick in the steering or something?

Buckle/vibration

suspension isn't that hard.

I might be interested in an M2 say 18 months hence when the depreciation has bled the price down to sensible money. It sounds more like a driver's car than the M3 and with a sub-200 emission/tax hit. Did you test drive or just go with the financials, chilled?

@Nottm: Surely the sound track can be improved with a little help from some tin snips

I never got around to test driving anything else. Nothing made it onto the shortlist to make it worth test driving. I find test drives mostly not worth the hassle if I'm not in serious choice mode.

I thought all BMs lacked suspension.

Drove a base 1er diesel and it was a firm ride

Rog.. The M2 seems a good motor but the low production volumes may keep the depreciation moderate.

You can buy an M2 and drive away right now, if you pay 5-7k over list.
