Default Snow dangerous

We got stuck in Lincs last night. The Guff didnt cope well with the snow and the local authority cba to grit the A158 or A16. Glad i found the tc off button.

We got a few miles out of Alford and turned round when we saw a car in a ditch. Returned this morning and passed no less than 4 ditched cars..

I think our over funded under good local authorities must take some blame here?

Or dodgy driving. And a refusal to fit decent tyres in order to save a few quid.

Summer tyres fitted as standard to most cars nowadays has a lot to do with it.

I agree the drivers are responsible but this snow was forecast, albeit a lot later in the day than it happened..

Fat summer tyres are a fricking liability though

It happens every year at the first wiff of snow
I avoid travelling any distance when its like that
We all blame the local councils but take no personal responsibility
It seems most are unprepared

I have winters on the S. But the missus wont spend £600+ to put them on the guff and i wont spend £1k to put em on the BM

The S is hopeless in snow and was my DD once upon a time...

I bet <5% of cars have winters and last year it didnt snow so you can see why

Winter tyres are superb but last year I didn't need to even fit them to my 3 series - it was so mild ! I have now sold the 3 series and the Z4 is not getting winters from BMW at £1800 !! I may buy them for my little Smart diesel as though it will be better if it snows than a BMW it would still benefit - and at £850 for a set on alloys it is far better £££ wise than the Beemer !

I feel a bit 'out of it' without winters having used them to great effect over the last 4 years - but they never solve the problem of the people in front of you who totally block the road with their cars which haven't got them on !

I'm champing-at-the-bit of try the A8 in proper snow; since I acquired it as a winter beater, I've had half a day of snow in the last year and a bit.

Weight, power and wide tyres are part of the problem, but my suspicion is that whilst driving standards are in decline, there's considerably more media interest in sensationalising the odd car in a ditch, a truck struggling up a hill or a bus that breaks down.

Who cares.

The British Propaganda/Paedophile Corporation said we were all gonna diiiieeeee, but the Met Office said it would fizzle out much beyond the Pennines.

Was running rings round everything in the Leg End, but disappointingly not enough snow to press the snow button. Or Sneeeh as they say in Hull. Neeeh sneeeh...
